New features

This month, we added the following new features.

Metered billing

Metered billing is a pricing model where the customer is charged based on their usage of a service or product.

Use metered billing when product quantity is unknown to the customer at the moment of creating a subscription. Metered billing is based on reported Usage records, and every reported usage updates the quantity of an upcoming invoice item for a specified subscription and plan.

Example: An internet service provider charges subscription customers based on their data usage each month. For each GB of usage, the customer is charged $2.00. Each month, the minimum amount the customer can be charged regardless of usage is $20. The maximum amount the customer can be charged is $200. If a customer uses 15 GB of data in a month, they are charged $30.

To create a metered billing plan, see Create a product and pricing plan.

Document subtypes and KYC

Document subtype is now included in the KYC scoring algorithm. Use KYC to automatically verify whether customer's a proof document is one of the permitted proof document subtypes, and update their KYC score accordingly. To configure KYC document threshold and weight options, see KYC settings.

For a complete list of available document subtypes, see subtypes.

Allocate amounts from credit memos to transactions

You can now allocate specified amounts from credit memos to credit and refund transactions. This allocation reduces the unusedAmount of a credit memo. This allows merchants to have a record of what invoice line items were refunded in the event of a partially refunded invoice. For more information, see Credit memos.

Credit memo support for the TaxJar integration

We added credit memo support to the TaxJar integration. When TaxJar credentials are configured, credit memo transactions are now automatically added to TaxJar. This allows for more complete and accurate tax reporting. For more information, see Credit memos and TaxJar integration.

Merchant configuration for the PayPal integration

We added a new merchant configuration for the PayPal mount function. This allows merchants who are an approved PayPal partner to use their own credentials for onboarding new PayPal merchants. For more information, see PayPal callbacks.

New docs

We are still refining our API docs using the Rebilly API description writing guide. To check out our progress, see Rebilly API.

New payment gateway integrations
